It’s simple math, guys and gals. Take a franchise that makes millions of dollars and costs tens of dollars to make, and you have cash cow that makes one hell of a profit. That’s why we are getting this.
STYD is reporting that Paramount is set to put a fourth film in the Paranormal Activity into motion. Nothing more is known yet, but with a Halloween 2012 release date obviously in the wings, details are going to be coming hot and heavy over the next couple of weeks.
Personally, I love this news. The franchise, while obviously a bit weak intellectually and narratively, are oddly endearing pieces of horror filmmaking. I love the little changes each creative team makes, particularly in the last, and in my opinion best, entry. Something as small as a camera that moves from side to side adds a whole new level of depth and terror to the film, which always instills this crazy sense of tension in something that frankly seems a bit simplistic. Count me in.
What do you think?

Overhyped, IMO. How there continues to be enough interest to support multiple sequels is beyond me.
