TorrentFreak has released a rundown of the most pirated video games and movies of 2011.
Topping the list of games is the PC version of German developer Crytek’s hit sequel Crysis 2 with 3.92 million downloads, which is something of a surprise considering how many huge titles were released last year. It was followed by a much more expected name in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which was downloaded 3.65 million times for the PC. Battlefield 3, FIFA 12, and Portal 2 rounded out the PC list.
Gears of War 3 led the pack of pirated Xbox 360 games with 890,000 downloads, followed once again by Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3, as well as Forza Motorsport 4 and Kinect Sports: Season Two. Super Mario Galaxy led all Wii games with 1.28 million downloads, followed by Mario Sports Mix, Xenoblade Chronicles, Lego Pirates of the Caribbean, and FIFA 12.
On the movie side of things, the Fast and the Furious franchise was at the top of the list with 9.26 million downloads of Fast Five. It was followed by The Hangover II, Thor, Source Code, I Am Number Four, Sucker Punch, 127 Hours, Rango, The King’s Speech, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.
