Rated PG-13 | 130 Minutes
Release Date: March 6, 2018
Thor: Ragnarok was my favorite of the three MCU films that came out last year and I think it’s one of the better MCU films ever. Where the first two Thor films didn’t fully connect with audiences, Ragnarok gives a full tonal shift combining the established characters with a new sense of fun and spirit. This shift is due mostly to new director Taika Waititi (What We Do In The Shadows). Everything feels different for the better in Thor’s third solo adventure with the colors brighter, the dialogue quippier, characters more memorable, and scenery more extravagant. Chris Hemsworth plays Thor, the God of Thunder, for the fifth time, this time against his older and stronger sister, the previously banished Hela (Cate Blanchett). While the movie made over $300 million in the U.S., if you missed it, the new 4K Ultra HD/Blu-Ray combo pack is available now!

Digital Release date: February 20, 2018
Blu-ray Release Date: March 6, 2018
Despite some of the tonal inconsistencies the Thor franchise has had in the past, Thor: Ragnarok feels like the defining Thor film. Chris Hemsworth returns to reprise his role as the title character he has played since 2011, and the third installment features a brand new first: the addition of a fellow Avenger, the Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). Director Taika Waititi takes the title character in the direction the franchise should have followed since the very beginning. By embracing the comedic potential and letting Waititi tell the story that he wants, turning Thor: Ragnarok into a hilarious action-filled adventure. While Ragnarok will hit store shelves on March 6, 2018, the digital version has been available since late February.
Along with the film, this home release is chock full of bonus features — the cover Thor, the first ten years of Marvel, Valkyrie and Hela, the source material that inspired the film, and of course, the return of Darryl.

10 Things We Learned At Marvel’s ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Press Day
|
 |

It’s pretty much safe to say that Thor: Ragnarok will be a game changer, as it not only takes the Thor franchise in a new direction but the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe as well. And a lot of that is thanks in part to Marvel Studios’ president Kevin Feige giving director Taika Waititi the freedom he needed to tell the story that he wanted to tell while also being confined to the rules of the MCU. The sequel is a bombastic thrill ride from start to finish and is finally a Thor movie that everyone can enjoy.
We were recently invited to sit down with our fellow journalists to talk to Feige and Waititi, as well as stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/Hulk), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Cate Blanchett (Hela), Jeff Goldblum (Grandmaster), Karl Urban (Executioner), and Rachel House (Topaz). During the event, we learned about the Taika effect, missing Asgardians, Hulk finally getting some dialogue, what the newcomers have to say about joining the universe, and much more. Read more below about the top ten things we heard at the Thor: Ragnarok press conference.

‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Featurette Introduces You To The Revengers

While the Avengers deal with end of the world conflicts, and the Guardians of the Galaxy protect the galaxy, it’s up to the Revengers to defend the realms. You’ve never heard of the Revengers? Well, they will appear in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok and are made up of Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), and Loki (Tom Hiddleston). Four unlikely banished heroes who unite to defend Asgard from Hela (Cate Blanchett) bringing the Asgardian apocalyptic event known as Ragnarok.
The highly anticipated sequel has already earned some high praise from critics (you can read our review here), and now to get people even more psyched for the film, Marvel Studios has released a new featurette about the Revengers and their quest to defeat Hela.
Check out the latest featurette for the film below.

How Heavy Metal and Yo Gabba Gabba Help Influenced The ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Score
|
 |

Shooting a movie can be a grueling process for everyone on set. And one way that directors can make it easier for everyone is to play music. Though the choice can vary from director to director, most would agree that these productions are a lot easier to go through if everyone is loosened up. And director Taika Waititi made Thor: Ragnarok a lot of fun with shifting the franchise in a new direction with the heavy metal vibes.
Geeks of Doom recently sat down with fellow members of the press at the Thor: Ragnarok junket, where we learned more about the process of making the film, and the music that played while on set. But as for the film’s heavy metal look, Waititi said he had the full support of everyone over at Marvel Studios. In doing so, he gave us an absolute bombastic film that looks like it was pulled straight off a heavy metal cover art and tons of fun.
But that isn’t the only musical inspiration behind Thor: Ragnarok. In fact, there was another band that helped influence the film. And I use that term very loosely. There were a couple of Yo Gabba Gabba songs that helped the cast get through the production. Find out more about this in the full story below.

Video: How To Make Your Own ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Mjolnir Candy Apples This Halloween

Making caramel and candy apples is never more popular than it is this time of year. But if you enjoy making them, you don’t always need to make them the traditional way.
For one example, instead of making normal candy apples you could make some Thor: Ragnarok-themed candy apples that look like little replicas of the mighty Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir. Marvel Entertainment has released a video showing you how to make these little treats.
Click on over to the other side for the recipe and to watch the video.
