Sure, Universal and Relativity may have their own Snow White pictures in production, but The House Of Mouse is looking to take the lead with their own long-awaited return to the story.
Originally conceived as some sort of kung-fu-infused take on Snow White known as Snow And The Seven, Variety is reporting that the film is not only now titled The Order Of Seven, but also actress Saoirse Ronan will be taking the lead.
With a new draft written by Jayson Rothwell and Michael DeBruyn, The Order Of Seven will shoot late this year, after nearly a decade on the shelf, and will now have little-to-no connection to the original work. The film instead will follow a woman who joins up with a group of warriors seeking refuge, only to have to help this clan take back their rights after being accosted by an evil empress.
Overall, while with two other Snow Whit pictures in the works, this one feels different enough to make it seem out of step with regards to its competition. I love Ronan as an actress, and while my hopes and expectations aren’t all that high, given that it’s a Disney live-action film, there is a lot of possibility here.
What do you think?
