Steve Niles, Jimmy Palmiotti, Justin Gray, Kevin Mellon and Phil Noto are pushing the creator owned comics movement even further with Creator Owned Heroes from Image Comics starting in June.
Details of the upcoming series are still scarce at this point, but as it appears on the official Facebook page, the series will feature two stories in pseudo-magazine/anthology format. Included in the first issue of the ongoing series is American Muscle from Niles and Mellon, an interview with Neil Gaiman and Trigger Girl 6 by Palmiotti, Gray and Noto. The series is set to focus on new creator owned properties from some of the tops names in the creator owned comics movement.
All of these creators rank amongst my favorites in their respective genres, so to say that I’m excited about this series would be, at the very least, an understatement. I mean, Kevin Mellon and Steve Niles working together is a treat in itself, but to have that in the same book as a comic by Palmiotti, Gray and Noto? That’s simply an unbelievable combination.
In honor of Creator Owned Day, each of these creators posted the cover and back cover to the series’ first issue, which you can view here below.
For more info on Creator Owned Heroes, make sure to like its official Facebook page for updates and art for the series. The comic is currently being billed at a $3.99 price point with 32 pages, which of course, I’d prefer a higher page count, but for the price, that’s a great deal. I will definitely be purchasing this book on a monthly basis.
