The BBC has released the first official teaser trailer for the approaching seventh series (actually Season 33) of Doctor Who. Featuring Matt Smith‘s eleventh incarnation of the Doctor, with departing companions Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill), the trailer gives a quick and condensed glimpse into what showrunner Steven Moffat has in store for fans this year.
You can view the trailer at the bottom of this post.
The official outline and announcement of the trailer from the BBC reads:
In the words of The Doctor: “Anachronistic electricity, keep-out signs, aggressive stares – has someone been peeking at my Christmas list?!”
The new season will see the last days of the Ponds, with Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill making their final rollercoaster voyage with The Doctor (Matt Smith). Amy (Karen Gillan) and Rory (Arthur Darvill) have been at the Doctor’s side for more than two seasons but what will he do after their heartbreaking departure?
New guest stars so far confirmed to star will include David Bradley, Rupert Graves and Mark Williams.
Doctor Who Series 7 will debut in Fall 2012, with the first 5 episodes focusing on the departure of Amy and Rory. The Christmas Special will bridge the season, and officially introduce Jenna-Louise Coleman as the Doctor’s new companion; followed by the concluding 8 episodes of the season in Spring 2013. Series 8 is believed to be released shortly thereafter to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who.
