The remake of Steven Spielberg and Tobe Hooper’s classic 1982 horror flick, Poltergeist, is still moving forward over at MGM, and now an interesting new name is involved.
It’s being reported that Sam Raimi, director of the Evil Dead and Spider-Man trilogies, has joined the project, and will produce alongside Nathan Kahane, Roy Lee, and Robert Tapert.
Just like the original, the remake will follow a family that discovers that their house is haunted due to its being built on top of holy land, and whose little girl is taken by the spirits that inhabit their home.
Raimi is also producing the remake of his own original Evil Dead movie, and is directing the upcoming Wizard of Oz prequel titled Oz: The Great and Powerful.
