Behold, rambunctious geeks of the Internet, a new milestone of independent news media has just been reached. This week, the Social Blend arrives at episode 200!! What does that mean? Well if you aren’t already excited, then for shame. And if you’ve never listened to Social Blend, then #200 is a good round number for you to start.
I remember the early days of the show, with a much younger Jay Fowler (aka SilentJay74) and a much more Australian-ian Greg Davies (aka cGt2099). It was good times that always kept me entertained within an hour (unlike those bastards over at The Drill Down… which, as a former host, is mostly my fault. heh).
SB has had tons of awesome guests over the years, including G4TV’s Chris Gore, Badass author Ben Thompson, Star Wars‘ official social media chick Bonnie Burton, Nataly Dawn from the awesome band Pomplamoose, and the firey metalhead from Roadrunner Records known as Jeremy Rosen, as well as regular guests such as myself.
The next two hundred episodes will be filled with lots of awesome commentary by not only Greg and Jay, but also newly minted regular host and musician Terr Ciavarra aka MediaNox. I will certainly be listening, except for when I’m actually on the show and have the ADHD kick in. My favorite moments of Social Blend cannot be narrowed down, but if I had to choose one, it would be the episode where Amy Vernon and Lee Garnett discuss the third and final chapter of Social Media culture web comic War, a piece of work that speaks volumes about how all of us who love Social Blend ended up virtually hanging out in the first place “” minus the guns, communistic Reddit aliens, killing sprees, building destruction, etc. etc.
Anyways, after you hear the show (or even before you do), I’d love to know what everyone else’s favorite Social Blend moment has been in the comments. And by virtue of typing this sentence, I’ll make Greg read off everything you post on the following show. (Everything).
Enjoy!
