Shortlist Of Actors Who Could Play Finnick Odair In ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’

Taylor Kitsch

With every sequel comes new character roles that need to be filled, such as that with the upcoming sequel to the adaptation of the Suzanne Collins novel Catching Fire, the second book in the successful Hunger Games trilogy. Among the top roles in the sequel, officially titled The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, is that of Finnick Odair. I’ll try to describe the character with the least amount of spoilers possible: He is a highly capable athlete brought in to take part in a newly designed game.

Since Gary Ross has decided not to come back to direct Catching Fire, Lionsgate has hired Francis Lawrence to direct the sequel, and now he is tasked with recruiting an actor to play the role of Finnick. According to E! Online, the top three names are Armie Hammer, Taylor Kitsch, and Garrett Hedlund.

While Kitsch has appeared in some big-budget movies this year – John Carter and Battleship – those films have turned out to be disasters. Then there is Hammer, who has appeared in the less than stellar Mirror, Mirror. He will however appear alongside Johnny Depp in the highly anticipated film The Lone Ranger. Hedlund has been getting some positive reviews for his performance in On the Road, but he is still remembered for his square starring role in Tron: Legacy.

We should expect a confirmation by Lionsgate at the end of the week.

So who would you like to see fulfill the role of Finnick Odair?

  4. Scott Mcgregor or James Franco. They both have the pretty, playful, seductive faces and are built enough to pull off the costumes.
