“Indiana Jones. I always knew some day you’d come walking back through my door. I never doubted that. Something made it inevitable.” – Marion Ravenwood, Raiders of the Lost Ark
June 12, 1981. Director Steven Spielberg and executive producer George Lucas introduced the world to Indiana Jones, the ultimate hero in the ultimate adventure, when Raiders of the Lost Ark debuted in theaters.
Now the great adventure returns in 1080p high definition with 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio for the first time, complete with a collection of documentaries, interviews, featurettes, and all-new bonus features. Raiders of the Lost Ark has been painstakingly restored, alongside remastered versions of Indy’s other exciting adventures “”Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
All four films will be available with pristine picture and sound when Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures hits shelves on Blu-Ray September 18, 2012. The Blu-Ray collection will retail for $99.99, but it’s currently available for pre-order now for $89.99.
The restoration was supervised personally by director Steven Spielberg and sound designer Ben Burtt. The original negative of Raiders of the Lost Ark was first scanned at 4K and then examined frame-by-frame so that any damage to the print could be repaired.
The film’s iconic sound design was similarly preserved using Burtt’s original master mix, which had been archived and unused since 1981. It sounds like Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures will be the most complete and highest quality versions of the films possible. TAKE MY MONEY NOW, SPIELBERG!
