Believe it or not we are in fact coming up on the web head’s 50th anniversary! The Amazing Spider-Man comic, a source of controversy due to Marvel’s ridiculous reboot of the series, is currently being handled by the creative team of Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos.
For issue #692 hitting stores in August, the team is giving Spider-Man his own Robin with the reveal of just who Alpha is!
Continue reading for more, and to see a preview of the issue.
The story will be told in an over-sized issue featuring variant covers from Marcus Martin that depict the wall-crawler through the ages. It’s not yet clear how much of an impact this story and new character will have on Spider-man’s story arc, but the pres release offers a hint at what to expect story-wise with this quote: “”¦celebrating the values that made Spider-Man the world’s greatest super hero for the past five decades”¦” Sounds like we’re in for some retro message-based Spidey storytelling. That’s not necessarily a bad thing if it’s done well.
Pick up the issue in your local comic shop in August or digitally via the Marvel Digital Comics Shop, and the Marvel Comics app. We have a sneak preview of the issue to either get you excited or turn you off to the whole idea.
