If Sauron’s Ring was the one ring to rule them all, then Mondo would be its equivalent in poster form. As you might have guessed based on the opening, Mondo has announced that they will be releasing specially commissioned posters for Peter Jackson’s The Lord of The Rings film series. The poster series will include all films from the trilogy drawn up by multiple artists. And to start things off we have a poster for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King by artist Aaron Horkey, which was unveiled this last night at the Mondo Mystery Movie X at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar.
Like most of these Mondo Mystery Movie screenings, you don’t know what you are going to see until they hand out the print to you. Not that it would deter me from watching it, but these posters are only available to those who attend the screenings, and that’s what bums me out the most. Still check out the cool Mondo poster here for The Return of the King below.
Like most of Mondo’s pieces where will be two editions; the regular edition will have 260 pieces while its variant brother will have only 125 pieces. This makes me wish the OC had more theaters like the Alamo Drafthouse. So I hope someone who works there is reading this now.
The scale of both these posters runs at 19.25 by 39. And remember this is only a taste of what is to come. The series will include all films drawn up by multiple artists. So if you don’t like this one, there will be more to come.
