It’s been over two decades since Johnny Depp played Edward Scissorhands in the beloved Tim Burton movie of the same name. The actor has gone on to become one of the biggest stars on the planet, but recently decided to play the character again, and in the most unexpected of places.
Depp was asked to get back into his 22-year-old character to voice a cutaway joke on the Fox animated series, Family Guy. As it turns out, the actor is a fan of the show and was happy to oblige.
Executive producer Mark Hentemann said of massive cameo:
“When he was in the booth, he said that he felt like he hadn’t done that voice since he did it in front of the camera. He was able to snap right back into Edward Scissorhands once we pulled up a clip from the movie.
He was amazing “” and demonstrated extraordinary patience with all the fawning women in our office who swarmed him.”
It’s unclear what the joke will be or what episode Depp will appear in, but we should know soon enough. The 11th season of Family Guy kicks off on September 30th.
