Earlier this month, director Peter Jackson made his way from Middle-Earth to San Diego for Comic-Con, where he debuted 13 1/2 minutes of footage from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (see our coverage: SDCC 2012: “˜The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ Panel and Photos).
Along with the film footage, Jackson also showed the 6,500 attendees at the convention’s massive Hall H a production video on the film’s final days. Now, that video has been released and you can watch it here below. Before the actual production footage begins, the video includes a little bit of what Jackson experienced going to Comic-Con and being on the panel.
Those of us in Hall H loved what we saw of the movie and the production video of the end of filming was great too, but seeing what was captured at Comic-Con and reliving the experience was a treat for me (that’s right, I was one of the people in the audience who got to shout, “Hi from Comic-Con!” for Peter Jackson).
This first Hobbit film is definitely my most anticipated movie of the year, and while its Comic-Con appearance was eventually upstaged by Marvel’s Iron Man 3panel, the panel for The Hobbit was my “looking forward to the most” event of Comic-Con.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey opens in theaters on December 14, 2012. Its sequel, The Hobbit: There and Back Again, will be released on December 13, 2013.
