Meh… if you want some trite tied up story go somewhere else – there is plenty of drivel out there with a nice neat ending and “point” for you. The Game of Thrones world is more like an opportunity to witness interesting characters in a beautiful world. It’s not some hollow tale with a neat happy/unhappy ending one way or another -it’s an epic in the true sense. People come and go, but they change in their life more than characters in most stories do and eventually they will be no more like everyone else. While one might ask a book series to “wrap up” or “get to the point”, the best ones (Dune, GoT, greek/norse mythology) really just offer a glimpse into a world – you’ll never get enough and eventually the author(s) die(s) (hopefully not too soon!) and you can only thank fate that they were around long enough to give you the glimpse you got. There’s plenty of blam blam mindless action geek fare for the masses out there – basically most of the fantasy genre. Thank god there is something that offers more realistic, slow-developing fantasy entertainment – hmm I wonder why GoT doesn’t just appeal to geeks! :0
