American Woman, by the classic rock group The Guess Who, is now available on MP3 format from Amazon this month for only $5.
Released in 1970, and spawning the number one smash hit title track, these Canuck musicians from the Great White North rock, roll, take it up several notches, and take it down several notches on American Woman. Led by the one-two punch of elastic voiced singer Burton Cummings and the snarling, barking dog guitar prowess of Randy Bachman, the album offers much variety in the hard rock/soft rock genre. Popular favorites “No Time” and the shimmy sway of “No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature” are here, but fans only weaned on a diet of the band’s greatest hits are urged to check out some of the lesser known tracks on the album, like “Proper Stranger,” “8:15,” and “Talisman” among others.
