Hoax Hunters #4 is just like the previous three issues. A good, solid, mystery/horror comic that’s never over the top and never relies on gross-out, over the top violence.
Writers Michael Moreci and Steve Seeley turn up the heat with this issue. There’s a lot of never before revealed mystery of the group’s past, along with the usual fun mystery-solving adventure. This issue, we get to finally delve deeper into the back story of one member of the group, setting up some potentially great story revelations for future issues. Not to be outdone, the main story is a whole lot of fun. It’s a great adventure where we get to see the WHOLE group working together and you get the feeling that for the first time, they’re truly a team. Overall, another great issue from the writing team. It’s got a fantastic last page shocker, that’ll have you waiting for the next issue.
Artist Axel Medellin does some great work in this issue. His art style has the perfect mood and atmosphere for this book. He doesn’t at any point go over the top with violence or gore, proving that what you DON’T see is scarier than what you DO see. His storytelling is fantastic, easy to follow, and very entertaining.
Another great issue from the Hoax Hunters team!!! It’s nice to see the creative team exploring the past of the characters and giving them some added depth. In short, the story’s good, the art is good, there is no reason not to pick up this issue!!
