The upcoming third season of Starz’s hit sword and sandals drama, Spartacus, titled Spartacus: War of the Damned, will be the show’s final season. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that the company is ready to give up playing in that period of time just yet.
It’s being reported that Starz is kicking around the idea of doing a spinoff series that would center around none other than the Roman general Gaius Julius Caesar.
In the third and final season of Spartacus, which debuts on January 25th, a young Caesar is actually introduced, played by Australian actor Todd Lasance.
It’s unknown how much he’ll play into the season, but it will allow Starz to set up the character and some prospective storylines if they do indeed decide to order a season of the spinoff.
The last time Caesar was on TV (to my knowledge, anyway) was in the brilliant HBO series Rome, which was devastatingly canceled after only two seasons, coming just a bit too early. If that show were to be made now, it would surely be among the best series out there, alongside the likes of Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, and Boardwalk Empire. Fittingly enough, the actor who played Caesar on Rome was Ciaran Hinds, who recently joined Game of Thrones as Mance Rayder.
Would you want to see Starz spinoff Spartacus with a new show centered around Julius Caesar?

I wouldn’t hate it.
I say bring it on. I’m eager to see how much more they can get way with.
