Andy Whitfield, Be Here Now

Way back in 2012 we found out about a documentary that was seeking funding via crowdfunding on Kickstarter. The documentary, titled Be Here Now, follows Spartacus: Blood and Sand star Andy Whitfield, along with his wife Vashti Whitfield and their children, as he battled cancer…a battle he would sadly lose. But while Whitfield is no longer with us he can still inspire many with this movie, which also tells a story of living your life to the fullest and taking advantage of each new day you have instead of fearing what tomorrow might hold.

Now, almost four years later, Be Here Now will be getting a release soon. You can find much more info on the film as well as check out an official trailer below.

Julius Caesar in Spartacus Image

Beware the Ides of March

It’s March 15, a day you should watch your back, especially if you’re Julius Caesar!

If you’re watching the Starz series Spartacus: War of the Damned, then you know that Caesar (played by Todd Lasance) has a role in this season, the show’s final one. From what I’ve heard, on tonight’s episode, titled “Mors Indecepta,” fans will want to see what may happened to the famed Gaius Julius Caesar as he continues his battle against Spartacus and the rebels.

Check out the Caesar-themed Spartacus: War of the Damned clip here below called “Ides Of March,” which contains some spoilery action from future episodes. “Mors Indecepta” airs tonight at 9pm ET/PT on Starz and will replay at 10pm and 11pm, as well as several more times this week (list of air dates and times here below).

Julius Caesar in Spartacus Image

The upcoming third season of Starz’s hit sword and sandals drama, Spartacus, titled Spartacus: War of the Damned, will be the show’s final season. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that the company is ready to give up playing in that period of time just yet.

It’s being reported that Starz is kicking around the idea of doing a spinoff series that would center around none other than the Roman general Gaius Julius Caesar.

Actor Herbert Lom Of ‘The Pink Panther’ Movies and ‘The Dead Zone’ Dies At Age 95

Herbert Lom

Herbert Lom, the Czech-born film and television actor best known to modern audiences for playing the long-suffering Chief Inspector Charles Dreyfus in the successful Pink Panther movies for United Artists, has passed away less than three weeks after celebrating his 95th birthday.

Born Herbert Karel Angelo Kuchacevič ze Schluderpacheru on September 11, 1917 in Prague to parents of Austrian nobility, Lom started out acting in mostly supporting roles (with an occasional lead) in the Czech cinema, but was forced to flee to England in 1939 due to the country’s invasion by the Nazis. After training at London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Art he began appearing in British comedies and dramas throughout the following decade and made his American film debut in Jules Dassin’s 1950 film noir classic Night and the City. Five years later he first appeared alongside future on-screen adversary Peter Sellers in the great Ealing Studios comedy The Ladykillers (awkwardly remade by the Coen Brothers in 2004). After the smashing success of the first Pink Panther movie, UA gave the green-light for a sequel – a practice that was hardly as common in the film industry as it is today – and in 1964 Lom made his debut as the harried Inspector Dreyfus in the Blake Edwards-directed A Shot in the Dark. The actor’s gift for red-faced bluster made the inspector an invaluable addition to the series. He would go on to play the role in each subsequent sequel ending with 1993’s Son of the Pink Panther, which had Italian comic actor Roberto Benigni taking over the role of perennial pain in Dreyfus’ backside since Sellers had died in 1980 and which would also be Lom’s final feature film.
