MacGyver: Fugitive Gauntlet #3 finds Mac running around a lot. And I mean A LOT. Wouldn’t have it any other way, as this is vintage MacGyver! This issue has more cliffhangers than a Back to the Future movie. And all the trademark MacGyver things that you want to see are right here in this issue. Heck, the mullet even makes an appearance!

Authors Lee David Zlotoff and Tony Lee have mastered the art of pacing in an action/adventure comic. This issue is all suspense and barely escapes, which makes it such a pleasure to read. To say that this is a “page turner” would be the understatement of the year. In this issue, Mac is all over the place. Egypt, Russia, and every place in between. We get some great history of the character, all mixed in naturally with no jarring scene changes or flashback, everything has a very smooth feel to it.

Will Sliney is quickly becoming one of my favorite artists. And it’s not just because he draws MacGyver. Everything here is GOLD from the first page to the last. This man knows how to draw action incredibly well, and that’s hard to do in a book where no one has any super powers. His storytelling is superb, his facial expressions are fantastic, he’s just a great artist in general and it’s only a matter of time before he becomes one of the “heavy hitters” in the industry.

Get this! You owe it to yourself! Even if you’re not a fan of the television series, or have never seen it before (and shame on you if you haven’t) this book will grab you and reel you in by the second panel. It’s rare in the world of licensed comics to have a book that’s THIS good, but when you have a great creative team working hand in hand with the creator of the property, this is what you get. There’s a LOT of love in this book, that much is obvious.
