It was only just a matter of time before Rush showed up on How I Met Your Mother.
Rush frontman Geddy Lee will reportedly appear on the February 4th episode of the CBS sitcom, which features a character, Robin Scherbatsky, who’s a Canadian living in New York City. (Robin is played by Canadian actress Cobie Smulders, who starred as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Maria Hill in Marvel’s summer blockbuster, The Avengers). The other main characters on the show frequently tease Robin about her Canadian ways – her love of hockey as well as her teenage past as a famous Canadian popstar who went by the name Robin Sparkles (a cross between Tiffany and a teenage Alanis Morrisette).
Since the show first aired in 2005, there’s been plenty of famous guest stars, such as Britney Spears, Katy Perry, and Jennifer Lopez. For the upcoming episode, which will see the return of Robin Sparkles, there will be several Canadian guest stars, like Alan Thicke, Jason Priestley, Alex Trebek, and the aforementioned Geddy Lee. See a list of all the guest stars for this episode in the video here below.
No word yet on what roles the guest stars will play, but it will obviously center around Robin and her past as a popstar, and possibly something to do with her current engagement to former womanizer Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris). I’m definitely excited to see in what capacity Geddy Lee will show up, but whatever it is, you can guarantee it will all be very Canadian!
How I Met Your Mother airs on Mondays at 8pm EST on CBS.
