It’s widely assumed that the next big game we can expect from Bethesda Softworks is Fallout 4. The past handful of years has seen the game makers alternating between The Elder Scrolls and Fallout, and while there’s surely a few fans hoping for something fresh and unique, most fans of their games are perfectly happy getting new installments in just those two series…this writer included.
But still, we wait patiently for some kind of announcement after events like last year’s E3 convention and the Spike Video Game Awards—two popular places to announce/reveal new games—came and went without so much as a peep.
There is, however, the tiniest of teases to take in in the form of a Fallout 3 voice actor who says we may be hearing him again in the future.
Actor Erik Todd Dellums, who fans will recognize as the voice of radio personality Three Dog in Fallout 3, took to the Twitter recently to say:
“To all my Fallout 3 and Three Dog fans: There may be more of the Dog coming! Fingers crossed!”
Apparently he was also given permission by Bethesda to say it, which makes the news even more interesting. But does it mean Fallout 4 is close by?
Having not announced the game, one would think Bethesda wouldn’t want people talking. This could means that Dellums is talking about something else related to Fallout that’s not as protected. Or that the next game is still so far away that they don’t care.
It’s also worth noting (and there’s no spoiler alert because you decide how it plays out in your own game) that Three Dog can be killed. Again, that just depends on how you play, but it’s unclear how he would play into Fallout 4.
One theory is that—if the game is set in Boston as many have thought it will—androids will play a large part, and that could be a way to revive Three Dog if you took him out in your Fallout 3 game.
So what do you think? Is a new Fallout and our friend Three Dog close by, or is there still a lengthy wait to endure?
