A potential new TV series is on the way, and it’s one that fans of L. Frank Baum’s The Wizard of Oz may (or may not) be interested in hearing about.
Warner Horizon is developing the project, which is titled Red Brick Road, with hopes of it becoming a full series sometime down the road.
Details are very scarce at the moment, but unlike Disney’s upcoming prequel directed by Sam Raimi, Oz the Great and Powerful, this potential TV series would be a continuation of the Oz story presented in the same fashion as HBO’s Game of Thrones, with “politics, intrigue, and violence.”
Red Brick Road is created by Rob Prior, with Mark Wolper, Roy Lee, and Adrian Askarieh acting as executive producers.
Prior has worked on comic books and has done concept art for movies. Lee and Wolper are also executive producers on A&E’s upcoming prequel series Bates Motel, which tells the story of a young Norman Bates, the character made famous by Alfred Hitchcock in his classic Psycho. Lee and Askarieh have the movie Leonardo da Vinci and the Soldiers of Forever set up at Warner Brothers, and Askarieh is also part of the recently announced Hitman redo with Paul Walker set to try his hand as Agent 47.
No word yet on what networks they might be shopping Red Brick Road to when the time comes.
