MacGyver: The Fugitive Gauntlet #5 is bittersweet. I’ve loved this series SO MUCH, that while I’m excited to see how everything concludes, I’m sorry to see this miniseries end. For the past four issues Lee David Zlotoff and Tony Lee have written an absolute perfect comic book based on the television series with all the hallmarks and standards of the MacGyver television show, and this issue is no exception. Everything comes to a head this issue, and it’s a great wrap up to the series. There’s TONS of twists and turns and some classic MacGyver gadget-making and using household cleaning tools to do some amazing feats. It’s very well written and just when you think things are settled, we get another few pages of wrap up. A great ending to this series.

| Chris Cooper Cast As Norman Osborn In Marc Webb’s ‘Amazing Spider-Man 2’ |

Academy Award-winning actor Chris Cooper (American Beauty, Adaptation) has signed on to play the nefarious Norman Osborn in Marc Webb‘s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, according to THR. A pivotal character in the Spider-Man universe, Norman Osborn is president of Oscorp Industries and the alter-ego of Green Goblin. In Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man, Norman Osborn is briefly mentioned by Oscorp executive Ratha (Irrfan Khan) as “terminally ill” – which is why Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans) has been experimenting with combining human and animal DNA – to create a cure. Of course the serum Connors creates is ultimately his undoing, and the cross-species genetic experiments directly result in Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) becoming Spider-Man and Connors becoming the Lizard. It’s safe to assume that Rhino (Paul Giamatti) and Electro (Jamie Foxx) will obtain their super-powers in a similar manner in Webb’s upcoming sequel.

The Rocketeer: Hollywood Horror #1 is just about as close to a perfect comic book as you can get. Whether you’re a fan of this character or not, you WILL enjoy this great first issue and look forward to the rest of this miniseries. First off, it’s nice to have a Rocketeer series that is NOT an anthology. Sure, those were GREAT, but it’s nice to dive into a deeper, flushed-out story, and believe me, there is PLENTY of story in this first issue. Writer Roger Langridge takes us back into the world of Los Angeles in the late 1930s, a simpler time if you will, but one that is NOT boring. In fact, there’s more going on 75 years ago than I bet there is in most people’s lives right now. Cliff has to deal with a couple of mad scientists, some gangsters, and of course, his very adventurous girlfriend, Betty. From first page to last, this book is pure fun and excitement!

The first trailer for the latest Wesley Snipes movie, the insane-looking horror western Gallowwalkers, hit the ‘Net a few days ago and has become the latest viral sensation. The movie has been completed and sitting in someone’s basement since 2006 but late last year saw an unexceptional release in the United Kingdom. It looks like the movie is finally heading to our shores, guns blazing, and in full head-ripping mode. You can check out the trailer here below. Gallowwalkers takes place during the days when violence ran rampant as criminals and gunfighters battled it out in an America still young and recovering from the national wounds of the Civil War, a time when gunmen who carried a curse that caused their victims to rise from the dead to prey on the living. That was a time known as IN YOUR MOTHERF%$!ING DREAMS, YOU SILLY MAN. Snipes gets the lead role of – what else? – said cursed gunman who finds himself having to kill people he’s already killed before.
