Holiday Comics Gift Guide 2018

I’ve long maintained that comics are the greatest Christmas present since there is a comic for everyone you know, even if they don’t know it yet. So, take a look at the list of titles below and see if there’s something out there for someone you know. Or maybe just pick up something for yourself, because there’s nothing wrong with that. Superman Logo

While past reboots of Superman have put a greater focus on the Man of Steel’s life as reporter Clark Kent, newly hired DC Comics writer Brian Michael Bendis’ take on the character will be closely tied to the ideals of good journalism, the scribe explained during a panel at this year’s SXSW.

Superman Donut wall

One huge benefit of reuniting Superman with his iconic red trunks is the amount of attention it creates, which is very useful for DC Comics as it embarks on a brand new era for the Man of Steel. The thing about SXSW is that it makes you superhumanly exhausted. It’s why DC probably pulled out all the stops with its presence at the event this year, including showing up with Batman’s signature ride(s), a sneak peek at Syfy’s upcoming Superman prequel series, free coffee (because of course), and so much more. Check out details from the event here below.

Lobo

It was only a matter of time before Michael Bay even considered jumping aboard another blockbuster film. It’s practically his bread and butter. But after directing five Transformers films and a few gritty ones in between, it looks like Bay is looking to direct a superhero film. Well, at least one that fits his sense of direction. According to new reports, Bay is in talks to direct an adaptation of Lobo, about a grungy space bounty hunter who has crossed paths with some of DC’s most notable intergalactic heroes and villains. More on the story below.
