Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe is in final negotiations to take on the role of Igor in a new revisionist take on the Mary Shelley classic, Frankenstein, being made by Fox.
Anyone familiar with Frankenstein tales will instantly recognize Igor as the hunchbacked assistant, who first showed up as a character named Fritz in the 1931 movie version—he was not a character in Shelley’s book.
In this new version, the character wears creepy old clown clothes, has long hair, and is described as being “pathologically dirty.” Not exactly a role you’d peg Radcliffe for in your brain.
Apparently Igor’s clown wardrobe isn’t the end of it, either; there’s apparently some kind of circus tone present throughout the movie.
The movie is being directed by Paul McGuigan, who’s directed episodes of the BBC’s Sherlock and Lucky Number Slevin, and is written by Chronicle screenwriter Max Landis.
