Fox Sets Release Dates For ‘Fantastic Four’ & ‘Wolverine’ Sequels, Untitled Marvel Movie Among Others
|
|
20th Century Fox never lets a little thing like their upcoming films having not actually gone into production yet stop them from setting release dates. That’s common practice for most studios these days, but Fox was one of the earliest pioneers of that practice, and for better or worse the filmmakers working under them have had to adapt or hit the bricks. Nothing personal, just business.
In keeping with that fine tradition, the studio has recently announced a slew of new dates for some of the biggest projects on their production slate for the coming years. Even though the long-in-development Fantastic Four reboot helmed by Josh Trank (Chronicle) still hasn’t began shooting, its hypothetical sequel already has a release date set for July 14, 2017. Fox is also continuing to exploit their other profitable Marvel properties with another Wolverine sequel debuting on March 3, 2017 (with James Mangold, director of last year’s terrific The Wolverine, returning), and a mysterious Marvel feature set for July 13, 2018.

‘Harry Potter’ Star Daniel Radcliffe Set To Play Igor In New ‘Frankenstein’
Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe is in final negotiations to take on the role of Igor in a new revisionist take on the Mary Shelley classic, Frankenstein, being made by Fox.
Anyone familiar with Frankenstein tales will instantly recognize Igor as the hunchbacked assistant, who first showed up as a character named Fritz in the 1931 movie version—he was not a character in Shelley’s book.
In this new version, the character wears creepy old clown clothes, has long hair, and is described as being “pathologically dirty.” Not exactly a role you’d peg Radcliffe for in your brain.

Paul McGuigan In Negotiations To Replace Shawn Levy As Director Of ‘Frankenstein’
While doing the pressers last year for his lighthearted family boxing drama Real Steel, Shawn Levy revealed that one of his next upcoming projects would be a revision of Frankenstein. Not much was heard since the announcement was made, but now we are learning that Levy is actually leaving the project, which could be helmed by Lucky Number Slevin director Paul McGuigan.
McGuigan is in talks with Fox to direct the project. At first Levy wanted to create a big-budget version of the classic horror film, which would involve motion-capture technology, but Fox wanted to have a low budget film. There has been no confirmation if that was the difference that made Levy leave the project, but we do know that McGuigan will still be using the script written by Chronicle director Max Landis.

It’s a well-known fact that super powers are cool. Super powers mean anything can happen and it probably will – awesomely. So Push, a movie set in a world where possibly millions of people have some kind of power must be amazing”¦right?
Living among us, largely undetected, are people with extraordinary psychic powers. In 1945, the Nazi’s began conducting experiments on these special people, injecting them with radioactive Iodine that would turn them into super soldiers ready to do battle in psychic warfare. Today, the Nazi regime may have ended but the experiments continue thanks to Governments the world over who have set up Divisions. Their job is to scour the globe looking for people with psychic abilities and round them up for testing.
So far, everyone who has been injected has died. Until Kira (Camilla Belle). The injection works as it is supposed to on her, increasing her Pushing ability (I’ll explain shortly) and Kira escapes from Division with a syringe of the lethal potion. All under the watchful, evil eye of Henry Carver (Djimon Hounsou). It is now Division’s priority to bring her back.
When Nick was a young boy he watched helplessly as his father was killed by Division. Before he died he told Nick that he would meet a girl who would hand him a flower and if he helped her, he would “˜help us all.’ Ten years later we meet Nick (Chris Evans) living in a shabby apartment in a rundown area of Hong Kong. He is struggling to master his telekinetic powers, trying to make his dice fall as he wants them to. This has lost him some serious gambling money which he owes to some nasty guys. To make matters worse, Division have tracked him down and want to take him in for testing.
