The first casting we heard about in regard to Michael Bay‘s upcoming new take on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, was of course when Megan Fox was announced for the role of April O’Neil.
Now casting for the four turtle roles is underway with the announcement that Alan Ritchson will be playing the hot-headed Raphael in the movie.
For those unaware, this new version of the Ninja Turtles isn’t using the physical costumes seen in the past, but will instead be utilizing performance capture techniques, similar to what was used for Avatar.
Ritchson is perhaps best known for his work on the TV series Blue Mountain State, but he’ll soon be seen playing a District One tribute named Gloss in The Hunger Games sequel, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is being directed by Jonathan Liebesman (Battle Los Angeles, Wrath of the Titans), and will be released on May 16, 2014.
