Like all Whovians, I’m quite excited about 2013 being the 50th anniversary of the longest running Science Fiction show in television history, Doctor Who. Yet with all the excitement, we know very little about the 50th Anniversary Special, to be written and produced by Steven Moffat. One fan, as you can see in the trailer at the end of this post, gives us perhaps a clue.
And if not a clue, then it is a mouthwatering morsel to chew over until Doctor Who returns for Series 7b on March 30.
The video below, by YouTuber VG934, follows an overarching subplot that Steven Moffat has been following during his helm as showrunner, in which "The First Question" is "Doctor Who?" – And that this question that must not be answered will be answered at the Fields of Trenzlore. A number of fans believe the 50th Anniversary Special may focus on this event, and it is likely, as Moffat has been almost overdoing the "Doctor Who?" running in-joke during the current season with Eleventh Doctor Matt Smith.
Whichever way, all the Doctors get a look in during the trailer, and there are countless references to the classic series that tie-in nicely with The First Question subplot. It is so brilliantly crafted, that when I viewed it for the first time I was convinced that it was the official deal from the BBC. So – it’s not just cool, it is really damn cool.
