We’ve been hearing about a reboot to the Tomb Raider movie franchise for quite a while, and now comes word that MGM and GK Films are teaming up to make the movie happen.

The first two movie adaptations of the popular Tomb Raider video game franchise starred Angelina Jolie in the title role, but it’s been said that the reboot would be an origins story.

An origins story makes plenty of sense as Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix recently released a reboot of the video game that was also an origins story with an all new look for the iconic heroine Lara Croft. it wouldn’t be at all shocking to see a movie made to fit the new game’s gritty and more realistic style.

Now that GK Films has a partner in MGM, development on the movie will begin immediately, but it’s not yet known who will be playing Croft this time or who else might be starring.
