| First Trailer For ‘Tomb Raider’ Movie Reboot Released
The first trailer has been released for Tomb Raider, a reboot of the movie franchise based on the hit 2013 video game…which was itself a reboot of the game series. The movie stars Oscar winner Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina, The Danish Girl) as Lara Croft, the daughter of an adventurer who sets off on a quest to the last known destination of her father, who mysteriously disappeared years earlier. | Alicia Vikander Nabs Role Of Lara Croft For ‘Tomb Raider’ Film Reboot
It was not that long ago when it was being reported that Star Wars: The Force Awakens actress Daisy Ridley was being courted to play the lead role of Lara Croft in the new Tomb Raider reboot. The idea sounded good on paper, as she has proven herself to be able to carry the weight of an iconic franchise on her shoulders, but seeing as her schedule would keep her from starring in another franchise, it would have been impossible to cast her in the new reboot. Well, it didn’t take long for Warner Bros. to settle on a different actress and one that has appeared in a couple of their films. | ‘Tomb Raider’ Movie Reboot Finds A Director
The planned reboot of the Tomb Raider movie franchise has found itself a director. It’s being reported that Norwegian director Roar Uthaug has been set to helm the movie for GK Films, MGM and Warner Brothers. Uthaug’s previous credits include Cold Prey, Magic Silver, Escape, and The Wave, which was good enough to be chosen as Norway’s submission to be considered for a Best Foreign Language Film Academy Award nomination. The project is also looking at a new writer. Geneva Robertson-Dworet, the writer behind the Black List script titled Hibernation, is in negotiations to pen the latest draft of the screenplay.

| ‘Tomb Raider’ Reboot Taps ‘Divergent’ Writer To Pen The Script
Six years into GK Films announcing that they would be rebooting Tomb Raider, we are finally getting some developing news. Not only has Warner Bros. joined GK and MGM to produce the film, but Evan Daugherty, writer of such films as Snow White and the Huntsman and Divergent, will pen the script. Deadline reports that in addition to co-producing, WB will also co-finance the film as well. Daugherty is also credited with writing the scripts for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the upcoming G.I. Joe 3.
