There’s been a bit of a change in regards to the release for the end of quite possibly the best series currently being released, Locke & Key. The final miniseries, which was originally scheduled top run six issues, will now come to an end in five issues. However, don’t think that you’re getting the short end of the stick, as the series will now close in an two-issue miniseries, titled Locke & Key: Alpha. The two issues will come in at 48 pages each, and will see release starting in August, 2013.

Series editor and IDW Chief Creative Officer/Editor-in-Chief Chris Ryall had this to say:
“We hadn’t wanted to reveal the direction this finale was going to take until now in order to maintain necessary secrecy over how LOCKE & KEY wraps up, but after Omega, there can only be Alpha. And the series will end much the way it began, in the form of an extra-length issue. Two, in this case. Hard to fit this much death and destruction into just a regular-sized issue.â€
I suppose you can look at this as a good news/bad news thing. Yes, it’s going to take that much longer to get the end of the series, but you know that Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez are taking the time to finish the series up right.
