Most people stopped paying attention to updates related to Ghostbusters 3 a long time ago, including us. Until we see some actual movement on the movie and not just talk, it’s just not worth it.
That said, news has been a tad slow, so why not do a quick update on a couple of long coming movies: the above mentioned Ghostbusters 3, and the remake of Tobe Hooper and Steven Spielberg’s 1982 horror classic, Poltergeist.
In an appearance on Larry King Now (click for video of the chat), Dan Aykroyd spoke about Ghostbusters 3 (and quite confidently, I might add—judging just by his answers, you’d think the movie was happening and happening soon…but time will tell on that), covering things like what the trilogy-maker will be about and where Bill Murray stands.
The new details came in Aykroyd’s description of the movie:
“It’s based on new research that’s being done in particle physics by the young men and women at Columbia University. “¦ There’s research being done that I can say that the world or the dimension that we live in, our four planes of existence””length, height, width and time””become threatened by some of the research that’s being done. Ghostbusters, new Ghostbusters, have to come and solve the problem.”
As for the Poltergeist remake, Bloody-Disgusting has word that director Gil Kenan (Monster House, City of Ember) has begun casting the movie and plans to begin shooting the movie in September.
According to their sources, the movie will go as follows:
…the new version follows Eric Bowen and his family who, after he loses his job, relocate to a new town to start anew. His daughter, Madison, is abducted, making him truly understand what’s important in life: family. In the new version, Eric’s wife, Amy, can communicate with the dead.
Another interesting new character is Carrigan Burke, a television personality who hosts “Haunted House Cleaners.”” The supernatural doesn’t scare this guy. Dr. Brooke Powell is Carrigan’s ex-wife who is a parapsychologist at a local university. Her team investigates the supernatural events surrounding the disappearance of the Bowen girl.
A pair of movies ghost fans have to look forward to, if they do in fact happen soon.
Are you looking forward to either Ghostbusters 3 or the Poltergeist remake?
