As part of the unveiling of the next generation Xbox console, Xbox One, an interesting announcement was made regarding Halo.
Halo being a part of a Microsoft event is no big surprise, and with a new trilogy in the game franchise currently being made by 343 Industries, you’d assume that the next game might show up today. But that was not the case.
Instead, 343 head Bonnie Ross was on hand to announce a brand new live-action Halo TV series, being made with none other than Steven Spielberg. Continue below to see a video of the announcement.
Not much is known about the TV series, but those familiar with the many attempts at turning the games into a movie should not be surprised to hear Spielberg’s name come up. The legendary filmmaker was one of the names that has been attached to trying to make a movie happen over the years.
The movie has not worked out, obviously—despite the fact that live-action Halo has been proven possible through shorts and the recent Forward Unto Dawn series—so it appears the movie is dead at the moment and the TV series is the path being traveled now.
