A very intriguing brand new game was shown off at E3 2013 titled The Division.
The game comes from developer Massive Entertainment and publisher Ubisoft, and brings together two very different gaming worlds: the open-world RPG and online multiplayer. The result is a massive city to explore as you like, while completing tasks with your friends.
Click on over to the other side now to read a more detailed description, and to watch a trailer and demo off the shockingly realistic game in action.
The Division takes place in New York three weeks after a lethal virus, released on Black Friday, has swept through the city. One by one, basic services have failed. Society has collapsed into chaos. The President invokes Presidential Directive 51, and The Division, a top-secret unit of self-supporting tactical agents, is activated. Leading seemingly ordinary lives, Division agents are trained to operate independently of command in this type of emergency situation. When the lights go out, their mission begins.
If playing with others is required or if you’re allowed to go solo is not yet known, nor whether there’s an actual narrative campaign to play or if you just have the basic premise and go exploring the city to find whatever you find. Both have their appeals!
The Division is set to hit stores sometime in 2014, and will be available on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 systems. There is no mention of whether or not it will be available on PC yet.
The video comes from the E3 presentation, so there’s a little talking. The trailer for the game begins at 1:00 into the video, and the gameplay demo begins at about 5:20 in if you want to skip ahead.
