In case you had not yet heard, they went ahead and made a sixth installment in the Child’s Play franchise, Curse of Chucky, which tells the tales of a child’s toy companion called a Good Guys doll that becomes possessed by a psychopathic killer known as Chucky.
A reboot of the franchise was in the works for a while, but those plans were put on hold and instead this movie was made. It will bypass a theatrical release and head straight for VOD services on September 24th, and Blu-ray and DVD on October 8th instead. But if you’re a fan of these movies, the most important ingredient, the voice of Brad Dourif as Chucky, is present and accounted for, so who knows! Dourif’s daughter, Fiona Dourif, is even getting involved in the franchise this time around, so it’ll be good ol’ family-friendly fun I’m sure! (Note: It would be super unwise to show your children this movie)
You can check out the trailer for Curse of Chucky below now.
DESCRIPTION:
He’s back! From the filmmakers that brought you Chucky comes the terrifying return of the pint-sized doll possessed by the spirit of a notorious serial killer. When a mysterious package arrives at the house of Nica (Fiona Dourif, True Blood), she doesn’t give it much thought. However, after her mother’s mysterious death, Nica begins to suspect that the talking, red-haired doll her visiting niece has been playing with may be the key to the ensuing bloodshed and chaos. The return of America’s favorite toy, voiced again by Brad Dourif, is unrated and full of more blood-splattered thrills and chills.
