Season 7 of Doctor Who was recently released on DVD and Blu-ray and one of the bonus features on the set is a minisode written by Neil Gaiman that features River and The Doctor.
You can watch that minisode, titled “Rain Gods,” here below.
Gaiman recently posted about “Rain Gods” on his Tumblr, explaining that it is derived from the cut “Planet of the Rain Gods” sequence that the author wrote as part of the episode “The Doctor’s Wife.” The lost sequence was then turned into a 3-page comic drawn by Mark Buckingham for the 2012 Doctor Who Brilliant Book and featured the Doctor and Amy and Rory. Then Gaiman rewrote the story to be about The Doctor and River and the minisode was created.
For the puzzled and curious. The lost Planet of the Rain Gods sequence from THE DOCTOR’S WIFE, which was drawn by Mark Buckingham as a comic featuring the Doctor and Amy and Rory in the 2012 Doctor Who Brilliant Book, was then rewritten by me as a Doctor/River minisode for the DVD, and then that script was filmed more or less given some limitations of time and budget, does now sort of exist.
Click the link in the excerpt to watch a video from 2011 of Gaiman talking about the lost “Planet of the Rain Gods” sequence. Also, the credits on the minisode says it was written by Steven Moffat, but it was Gaiman who wrote it.

That was brilliant.

It was just a mistake. Gaiman definitely wrote it. According to Gaiman, there’s another episode where he’s listed as the writer, but it was really Moffat. So, someone in charge of posting the credits to the video made an error.

Any idea why it says it was written by Moffat and not Gaiman?
