Comedy Central’s South Park does things differently than any other show on TV, making each new episode within the week that it airs, making for some of the most timely and topical comedy you can get. This process was documented in 6 Days to Air, which any fan of the show should watch if they haven’t already.
But for the first time in the show’s history a deadline has been missed, and tonight’s new episode titled “Goth Kids 3: Dawn of the Posers” will not air.
The reason for the missed deadline is that there was a power outage at the studio on Tuesday, leaving the crew unable to do anything as can be seen in the image of show creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone above (more images at the official site).
Of the situation, Parker said:
“It sucks to miss an air date but after all these years of tempting fate by delivering the show last minute, I guess it was bound to happen.”
As for tonight, the popular episode “Scotty Tenorman Must Die” will be aired and live-tweeted at the usual time, with “Goth Kids 3” now continuing new episodes next week.

I didn’t know they worked this way. Nor would I, had they not missed the deadline. This makes me like them all the more.
