I was going to describe the actual prank that actor Sacha Baron Cohen pulled at the recent BAFTA LA Jaguar Britannia Awards, but ultimately decided that this was something you should see with no knowledge of what was going on or what is going to happen.
No one does pranks quite like the star of movies like Borat, Bruno, and The Dictator, who was on hand to receive the Charlie Chaplin Award For Excellence In Comedy when he made his move. The crowd reaction is priceless, including some big celebrities, as you can easily hear the people in the audience who are aware of Baron Cohen’s reputation and laugh freely, while others look on worried, unsure of what’s going on and what they should be doing in this moment. The end result is that this may just be the best “thank you” speech we’ve ever seen.
You can see a pair of videos below, one showing the set up and the prank, and the other starting with the prank and showing the response.
