Keanu Reeves is current out doing a press tour to discuss his upcoming film 47 Ronin, but in an interview Monday morning with Today the conversation turned to the role that brought his name to prominence, Ted “Theodore” Logan, and what might be next for Ted and his best friend, Bill S. Preston, Esq. (Alex Winter) in the long-rumored Bill & Ted 3.
Reeves talked candidly about the role and the characters, and provided some very promising news for those hoping for a third Bill & Ted time-traveling adventure with.
“I’m open to the idea of that. I think it’s pretty surreal, playing ‘Bill & Ted’ at 50. But we have a good story in that. You can see the life and joy in those characters, and I think the world can always use some life and joy.”
It’s great to hear of Reeves seemingly very open willingness to return to the role! And this is not just wistful thinking or him just throwing fuel on rumors of a project that doesn’t really exist. Reeves further added:
“Yeah, there’s a story; there’s a script. We’re trying to get the dough together to make this crazy story. I can talk about it, but I shouldn’t talk about it.”
That sounds extremely promising! There has been news floating around of a script for a while, but to hear confirmation that it exists from one of the main cast members and then that finances are trying to be secured in order to move forward should have fans grinning.
Hopefully we’ll hear more news and developments sometime in 2014.
