The ’70s were a time of shocking and visceral thrills for horror audiences, giving us era-defining classics like The Exorcist, Jaws, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Alien. The 1980s, however, was a decade of excess and that went for horror films as well. The normal expression is “less is more,” but in ’80s horror MORE was more. More blood, more nudity, more controversy, more slasher icons, more films to choose from, and more sequels. David Weiner‘s phenomenal new documentary, In Search of Darkness: A Journey Into Iconic ’80s Horror, gives the decade a comprehensive overview. As someone who grew up in the late 1980s and was eased into the genre by my love of the video store horror aisles and Freddy Krueger in 1987’s A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 3: Dream Warriors, this documentary hit me in all the feels. It works both as a passionate nostalgia project and a genuine look at film history.

We know that Bill & Ted 3 is coming to theaters Summer 2020, and now we know that filming on the long-awaited sequel begins today!

The official Bill & Ted movie Twitter page posted last night that “We begin filming tomorrow, dude!”, while franchise co-screenwriter Ed Solomon posted to his account, “Monday. Crew call: 7:30. First shot: 9:00.” This morning, Solomon posted the words “Party On” with a photo of a sign showing the way to the set.

Now that Bill & Ted 3, which is currently going by the working title Bill & Ted Face the Music, is finally on the way officially with Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter returning to play the title roles and William Sadler even returning to play Death once again, it’s time for some fresh faces to join the party.

It’s being reported that Samara Weaving and Brigette Lundy-Paine have joined the cast of the long-awaited trilogy-maker, and that they’ll be playing Bill and Ted’s daughters.

Now that we know that Bill & Ted 3: Face the Music is coming Summer 2020 with stars Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves reprising their respective title roles, everyone is wondering what other familiar faces will be returning and how the filmmakers will address, if at all, the absence of the late George Carlin.

Today, the official Bill & Ted Twitter account confirmed that William Sadler, the actor who played the Grim Reaper in the second movie, 1991’s Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, will be reprising his role for the new film.

We knew a most excellent Bill & Ted sequel was on the way and now we know when.

In a special announcement today from the Wyld Stallyns themselves, Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves, it was revealed that the planned third film is coming to theaters in Summer 2020.
