Now that Bill & Ted 3, which is currently going by the working title Bill & Ted Face the Music, is finally on the way officially with Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter returning to play the title roles and William Sadler even returning to play Death once again, it’s time for some fresh faces to join the party.
It’s being reported that Samara Weaving and Brigette Lundy-Paine have joined the cast of the long-awaited trilogy-maker, and that they’ll be playing Bill and Ted’s daughters.
Here’s a description of what the movie will be about:
Currently in production, Bill & Ted Face the Music will see the duo long past their days as time-traveling teenagers and now weighed down by middle age and the responsibilities of family. They’ve written thousands of tunes, but they have yet to write a good one, much less the greatest song ever written. With the fabric of time and space tearing around them, a visitor from the future warns our heroes that only their song can save life as we know it. Out of luck and fresh out of inspiration, Bill and Ted set out on a time travel adventure to seek the song that will set their world right and bring harmony in the universe. Together with the aid of their teenage daughters Billie and Thea, a new crop of historical figures and some sympathetic music legends, they find much, much more than just a song.
According to the report, Weaving will play Thea Preston, the daughter of Bill S. Preston Esq. (Winter), while Lundy-Paine will play Billie Logan, the daughter of Ted Logan (Reeves).
Of the castings, producer Scott Kroopf said:
“When we saw Samara and Brigette together, it was like deja vu. It was exactly the way we felt when we first saw Keanu and Alex. We are so thrilled to have this funny and unique pair join the Bill and Ted team!”
Weaving is known for her roles in The Babysitter, Mayhem, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri while Lundy-Paine is known for roles in Downsizing, Action Point, and Atypical.
Bill & Ted creators Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon wrote the screenplay for the new sequel, and Galaxy Quest director Dean Parisot is behind the camera.
Bill & Ted Face the Music is currently scheduled for an August 21, 2020 release.
