Disney’s Frozen continues to dominate the box office and music charts. Since being in the top five since its theatrical release, Frozen has grossed $763.9 million worldwide, while the soundtrack has topped the billboard 200 for two straight weeks, as well as the iTunes Store beating out the likes of Beyonce’s new album by a landslide.
Now Disney will give Frozen audiences a chance to be a part of the magic, as the studio has announced that they will release an all-new sing-along version of Disney’s Oscar-nominated, Golden Globe-winning big-screen adventure beginning January 31, 2014. Hit the jump for more info.
Dave Hollis, The Walt Disney Studios’ executive vice president, theatrical distribution, said:
“Frozen fans have embraced the film’s original songs and its soundtrack with such passion””there are countless YouTube videos from people singing songs like “˜Let It Go'””we decided to create a version that would celebrate that enthusiasm. It’s a great opportunity for families to get together and have some fun with these songs.”
For those who can recall the days of those Disney Sing-Along VHS tapes, this version will have the same premise of using on-screen lyrics accompanied by a bouncing snowflake – because it’s Frozen it just had to be a snowflake. Unlike normal limited theatrical runs, the run for the sing-a-long version of Frozen will vary from theater to theater.
For those who reside in the Los Angeles area, the Frozen sing-along at Hollywood’s El Capitan will include on-stage appearances from the movie’s Elsa prior to each showing, plus snow flurries inside the theater.
So if you can’t stop singing “Let It Go” in the car or give one great big “aww” every time Anna asks Elsa if she wants to build a snowman, you might want to circle January 31 on your calendar.
Frozen will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on March 18, 2014, while the film’s soundtrack is available now on CD, Deluxe Edition CD, and MP3 Download.
