It’s been two and a half years since we first saw the brilliantly insane looking LARPing comedy Knights of Badassdom. The movie has unfortunately had a bit of a rocky road on its way to our eyes, but after distribution rights were acquired by eOne Films this past summer, the movie is finally starting to be seen.
The movie started screening in select theaters on January 21st, and will be available on demand starting on February 11th. In celebration of its release, Geeks of Doom has been given an exclusive map piece from the movie to share with you.
Click on over to the other side now to to see the map piece, and find out more about the movie, including how to get it in your town and where you can take part in an interactive Knights of Badassdom quest. You can also check out a trailer below (which includes a peek at the full map from which the piece below comes) if you’ve not yet seen one.
Knights of Badassdom is directed by Joe Lynch (Wrong Turn 2, Chillerama), and stars Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones, The Station Agent), Ryan Kwanten (True Blood, Griff the Invisible), Steve Zahn (Treme, Dallas Buyers Club), and Summer Glau (Firefly, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles).
SYNOPSIS:
KNIGHTS OF BADASSDOM follows three best friends (Peter Dinklage, Steve Zahn and Ryan Kwanten) and dedicated LARPers (Live Action Role Players) as they take to the woods to reenact a dungeons and dragons-like scenario fresh out of the mythical Middle Ages. Trouble arises after they unwittingly conjure up some serious evil in the form of a blood-lusting Succubus, from the pits of hell.
Fantasy and reality collide on the Fields of Evermore in an all-out epic battle of make-believe wizards, demons and assorted mythical creatures. Their courage and friendship is put to the test as they attempt to vanquish the evil they have summoned. Will the group prove to simply be foam sword-wielding LARPers, or true “Knights of Badassdom?”
The first screenings of the movie have been set up through Tugg, an events crowdfunding service that allows you create an event and spread the word, and if enough tickets are sold, the event goes down. If enough tickets aren’t sold, no one is charged and the event doesn’t happen.
A Knights of Badassdom event can be set up in your town or tickets can be purchased for other events by heading to the movie’s Tugg page. Doing so comes with a discount on the Blu-ray or DVD when it arrives.
There’s also an interactive quest for you fans of role-playing games that can be found through the movie’s Facebook page.
Other places you keep up to date with Knights of Badassdom are the official website, the Twitter, and Tumblr.
