Last month it was reported that 300 and Olympus Has Fallen star Gerard Butler would play Patrick Swayze’s Bodhi role in the planned remake of Point Break.
Now comes word that an actor has been chosen for the Johnny Utah character played by Keanu Reeves in the original. Australian actor Luke Bracey has been officially cast in the movie, which follows the same premise as the original, only set in the world of extreme sports instead of just surfing.
Bracey played Cobra Commander in the 2013 G.I. Joe sequel, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and also starred in the Australian soap opera Home and Away. He can next be seen in The Best of Me and November Man.
The Point Break remake is being directed by Invincible director and The Fast and the Furious cinematographer Ericson Core, and is penned by Law Abiding Citizen and 2012’s Total Recall remake writer Kurt Wimmer.
