In 1991, a live-action retelling of the Peter Pan fairy tale directed by Steven Spielberg was released, and it was titled Hook. The movie starred Robin Williams as an older Peter Pan who returns to Neverland in search of his children, who have been kidnapped by his old enemy, Captain Hook. It also starred Dustin Hoffman as Hook, Julia Roberts as Tinkerbell, Maggie Smith as Wendy (with a young Gwyneth Paltrow appearing as the character in flashbacks), Bob Hoskins as Smee, and Dante Basco as Pan’s replacement as the leader of the Lost Boys, Rufio.
One of the most memorable scenes in the movie comes toward the end when Rufio and Hook go head-to-head in an epic sword fight. As part of their ’90s Week, YouTube channel CineFix decided to do a homemade remake of this scene, and they even got Basco to reprise his role as Rufio for it!
You can see the video below, as well as additional videos that show a side-by-side comparison with the original scene and behind the scenes of the making of the recreation.
WARNING: If for some reason you’ve never seen Hook and you hope to watch it at some point, it should be mentioned that these videos do contain spoilers.
