When talking about the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset, it’s usually related to video games and how much more awesome many of them will be when using it. But the thing about finally perfecting the virtual reality we’ve seen depicted so many times over the years in movies and elsewhere is that it could mean so much more than just entertainment. That’s something we’re reminded of in this very special video.
Knowing her grandmother was dying of cancer and was unable to move around much let alone walk outside and visit some of the places she wanted to, Priscilla contacted Oculus, who sent her a headset so her grandmother could do and see some of the things she was unable to do herself anymore.
You can see a video of her moving experience and reaction below, which sadly took place about four weeks before she passed away.
From Priscilla’s YouTube posting:
The Oculus Rift team donates a dev kit so that my grandmother can experience the outside world from inside her home.
For some reason, her favorite part was just being able to walk up the stairs.
Keep making art, keep living life, and remember to love one another.
Cheers,
Pri
