This past weekend, Play Fair NY 2017 invaded the Jacob Javits Center in midtown Manhattan. The ultra kid-friendly environment is a welcome to parents who felt overwhelmed during NYCC in October. Here there were large play areas for kids, toy and game demonstrations, an activity stage, and more, as well as a place to check out Minecraft VR.
Check out some of the photos from the event here below.
One highlight of the convention, especially for my teenage son, was the Minecraft VR experience. The Learning Lab 360 set up an entire truck decked out with virtual reality set ups for multiple kids to try out at once. Each kid got around 5 minutes to try the game using the Oculus Rift. My son Brandon put the VR system on me and HOLY CRAP it was awesome. I actually grabbed for the poll next to me like I was on the subway. It was intense.
You can download Minecraft at the Oculus Store or Windows store. To learn more, go to the Minecraft VR site. Play Fair NY 2017 wrapped up on Sunday, so go to playfairny.com for more info on the event and its plans for 2018.
