Greetings and felicitations, my fellow comic book nerds, Empress Eve here! This week, Henchman21 is blind in Texas, so I’m here all by my lonesome. But, wait, no, I’m not! Because Waerloga69 and CultureSmash have come to my rescue to help bring you fine folks The GoD List!

Chaos #1 (Dynamite Entertainment – $3.99) Chaos #1 launches a new comic book series by writer Tim Seeley and has art by Mirka Andolfo, who are our PS Hayes says is “one of the best artists you’ve never heard of.” (You can check out this full review of the issue.) The main cover is by J. Scott Campbell (Danger Girl), who I love and this cover definitely draws you in. This series features members of the Chaos! universe (originally created by Brian Pulido and Steven Hughes) like Evil Ernie, Purgatori, Chastity, and more on the panels together, headed straight into conflict with one another.
Turok: Dinosaur Hunter #4 (Dynamite Entertainment – $3.99) I wasn’t sure what I’d think of this series from Dynamite, but seeing writer Greg Pak’s (Planet Hulk, World War Hulk) name on it caught my attention, so I checked it out. Totally dig it!!! The series is based on the Gold Key Comics from the 1950s and brings back the comic book character Turok, a Native American warrior. As the title infers, there’s dinosaurs!!! And, as expected, plenty of action, but also some thought-provoking scenarios. Turok: Dinosaur Hunter #4 closes out this first arc, so if you haven’t jump on this series yet, go ahead and grab Issues #1-3 as well.
Red Sonja #9 (Dynamite Entertainment – $3.99) Oh, Red Sonja, would I ever leave you off my pull-list? Of course not. The covers alone are worth the price of an issue, as they are all gorgeous (there’s several variants with each issue). But, this title by writer Gail Simone is a favorite of mine and if you’re not reading this series, you should be!
Waerloga69
Aphrodite IX #10 (Image Comics – $2.99) I have long enjoyed this comic because what’s not to love? A beautiful green-haired assassin who is shaking off the chains of her makers? And while she has kicked butt consistently, this time vengeance is hers as this issue finishes off the second plot line! Pick this issue up to see how it all winds down!
All Star Western Vol. 04 Gold Standard TPB (DC Comics – $16.99) Taken directly from All Star Western #17-21, this trade proves that Jonah Hex has what it takes to deal with time traveling yahoos like Booster Gold. And while he may be able to handle lasers and force fields, can he do the same if HE is the man out of time? Read this and find out!
X-Men vs. Hulk TPB (Marvel Comics – $24.99) Everyone likes to see the Hulk in action, right? Well here’s your chance! After being rocketed into space by his “friends” in the Illuminati, Hulk is back and he’s got his mad face on. Laying the smackdown on the X-Men is a start but be prepared for the meanest rematches around: Hulk goes up against Wolverine and Juggernaut again!

Amazing Spider-Man #1.1 (Marvel Comics – $3.99) Written by Dan Slott | Art by Ramón Perez
In this new story arc, a chapter hidden within Peter Parker’s first two months of being the wall crawler is revealed. In Year One: Learning to Crawl, Peter has to find his footing as a super hero. It’s the origin you know and love, just a part of it you’ve never heard before. This one features a cover by Alex Ross, too! An origin side story, great timing for those interested in checking out a comic after seeing the new movie.
Miles Morales Ultimate Spider-Man #1 (Marvel Comics – $3.99) Written by Brian Michael Bendis | Art by David Marquez
Miles struggles to find his place in a post CATACLYSM world and has to tangle with one of Peter Parker’s biggest villains. This issue begins the story arc Revival. Is this like the old days when Peter Parker’s name headlined a Spider-Man book?
Original Sin #1 (Marvel Comics – $3.99) Written by Jason Aaron, Mike Deodato
Original Sin is Marvel’s big summer event book and it starts with the murder of the Watcher. Nick Fury leads a team to investigate the space God’s death while Black Panther is assembling a secret team of his own with some unsavory members such as Emma Frost for an unknown mission. Also, something was stolen from The Watcher’s lair and whoever stole it holds the Universe’s darkest secrets. The Watcher is a fascinating character that hasn’t been given the depth he deserves, maybe we will get that here now that he’s dead.
