Back in the end of March, we got to see the first TV spot for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the upcoming sequel to 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
Now, Fox has released the full-length trailer for the film – watch it here below! Also below is the international version of the trailer; it’s the same length, but is reedited and also features some different camera angles than the U.S. version.
Directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) and starring Andy Serkis, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Jason Clarke, Kodi Smit-McPhee, and Judy Greer, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes open in theaters on July 11, 2014.
Dawn sees the return of the genetically enhanced ape Caesar (played via mo-cap by the great Andy Serkis), who’s now leading a nation – yes, a nation! – of genetically evolved apes. The spread of the Simian Flu had led to the ruin of major cities like New York, San Francisco, and London and the downfall of humankind. Now, the apes (at times on horseback!) and surviving humans are about to begin a war for total domination.
Below are some videos recently released that show the deterioration of some major cities over the ten years.
Ten years pass as the Simian Flu strikes around the world, causing mankind to cripple by dissension and the epidemic’s effects. As cities deteriorate and the fabric of society dissolves, the dawn of a new era is about to begin.
A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
